End-to-end project management of the infrastructure to support Papua New Guinea’s first commercial rice industry in the remote location near Umi in The Markham Valley. James was responsible for the procurement, installation and successful operation of all equipment determined critical to business survival.

Conducting root cause analysis to identify and implement continuous improvement projects across multiple manufacturing operations, including:

An inventory management project, which reduced stock and cost variances by >10%.
An auto cleaning magnets project, which eliminated a workplace hazard, improved quality control of CCP and improved each line’s OEE by 8% consistently.
Refurbishing an employee transport fleet to improve comfort and eliminate safety hazards.

Developing and implementing a Lock Out / Tag Out training program, which James delivered to 100+ staff across three sites in Papua New Guinea, as well as behavioural-based safety training across the same employee base. In addition, James implemented cultural change in a busy Maintenance Department, reducing absenteeism and increasing accountability, reporting and proactive maintenance outcomes.

Leading the TPM function for SunRice for two years, including training and assessing team members on Lean and TPM Methodologies (OEE, Poka-Yoke, SMED and root cause analysis), ensuring execution of all activities related to the support, progress and sustainability of the change and improvement process, and supporting and coordinating key projects across three sites.

End-to-end project management of a new paddy rice mill in Lae, Papua New Guinea, including stakeholder engagement, planning, procurement, area and services upgrade, installation, and commissioning.

Identifying new growth opportunities via strategic partnerships and services for an Australian automation company.
